Emerald Tablet

‘Emerald Tablet’ Wall Hanging

The name ‘Emerald Tablet’ stems from the name of the Silver and Black fabric that I have used within the piece. This fabric was called ‘Alchemy’.

This name stuck in my head and as I was finishing the piece I knew that I wanted to give it a title that related to alchemy in some way. Despite this, I added the green borders without looking for a name!

The Emerald Tablet was a secret piece of writing by an author from Antiquity (Hermes Trismegistus (“Hermes the Thrice-Greatest”), a legendary Hellenistic combination of the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth). It is reported to contain secrets relating to the foundation of alchemy as a subject.

The prefect name I believe.
